General Information about our Programs

The 9-week Effective Parenting, 10-week Cool Solutions, and 8-week Triple P programs are made up of a series of workshops appropriate for parents of children aged toddler to teen.Each week our dynamic and fun classes last 2 to 2 ½ hours. They include a mix of the presentation of new material, small group and individual activities, games, role plays, videos and discussion. Average class size is 15 participants.Parents receive a course workbook. Handouts are available that complement course work and cover many parenting concerns. Parenting books and videos are available for loan at each course. Upon course completion, certificates are awarded.Regular parent participation is very important. Each week builds on the skills and specific techniques already introduced.

It is NOT generally recommended that parents take more than one 8-10 week program at the same time. Those who wish to do so must speak with the program manager.

What do our programs aim to acheive?

Programs help parents develop understanding, knowledge, skills and specific techniques that can be used at home to support and encourage the healthy development of their child.Parents find useful information and strategies to help their children succeed at school. They discover ways to build a positive relationship with their child's school. Parents gain deeper understanding of how they can achieve greater success in their own personal lives by applying the principles discussed. Parents build their own skills in the areas of self-esteem, responsibility, relating effectively, problem solving, anger management and conflict resolution.

Parents find a friendly supportive environment where concerns can be discussed, friendships made, ideas exchanged and further resources and referrals made available as needed.
